The Essential
Anti-cancer Diet
|
Sadly, in today’s fast paced
society, our modern diet consists of pre packed
convenience foods that are devoid of nutrition
and phyto-chemicals, which are essential in
sustaining our metabolic functions. Taking the
time to prepare nutritious meals is last on
the list for most people – until they
face a cancer diagnosis!
Most people have heard the phrase “an
apple a day, keeps the doctor away” but
do you know why?
Scientists are still unaware of phytochemicals
that are naturally found in most fruit and vegetables.
The human digestive tract is not designed as
an omnivore (non-meat eater). The below chart
indicates the proof of this:-
There is now proof that confirms we are not
meant to eat meat. This evidence is based on
various facts (see Humans are Herbivores).
Sugar is a cancer
feeder
Another important factor to the cancer
fighting diet is cutting out all sugar, including
artificial sugars (aspertame, saccharin, sucrose,
maltodextrin etc). These substances alone hold
more health risks than simple sugar! The reason
for this is because cancer cells are glucose
(sugar) metabolisers. They do not utilise oxygen
as healthy cells do; therefore one of their
main fuel sources is sugar. Sadly, this main
factor is never advised to patients by orthodox
medicine, and some of their nutrition guidelines
are appalling. They often suggest using a premixed
protein drink which contains sugar, artificial
colours and additives – the kind of thing
you avoid like the plague when fighting cancer.
Your body has to heal, and bombarding it with
useless chemicals that the body has to remove
only taxes the essential processes need to eradicate
cancer.
Acid v Alkaline
Virtually all degenerative diseases including
cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis,
kidney and gall stones, and even tooth decay
are associated with excess acidity in the body.
While the body does have its own system which
maintains a constant pH 7.4 in the blood, this
alkalising system works by withdrawing alkaline
minerals from other locations in the body, including
the bones, soft tissues, body fluids and saliva.
Therefore, the pH of these other tissues can
fluctuate greatly.
When we are healthy, the pH of blood, spinal
fluid and saliva is 7.4. Therefore, the pH of
saliva is the same as the other cellular fluid.
Cancer cannot exist in an alkaline environment.
All forms of arthritis are associated with excess
acidity. Whatever health situation you are faced
with, there is a method of monitoring your overall
ph levels by testing your saliva pH. PH testing
kits can be found on the resources
page.
Alkaline foods
As a general rule, try to eat mostly alkaline
foods when fighting cancer. Always try to avoid
the "strongly acid" foods:-
| Strongly Acid: |
meat, fish,
soft drinks |
| Mild Acid: |
grains, legumes, nuts |
| Mild Alkaline: |
fruits, vegetables, berries,
dairy |
| Strongly Alkaline: |
green leafy vegetables,
brocoli, spinach |
Supplement your diet
with freshly made fruit and vegetable juices
Try to drink at least 3 fresh fruit and vegetable
juices per day. We could never eat the amount
of nutrition we drink with these juices. Always
consume the full drink within 20 minutes of
juicing; this ensures that the enzymes essential
for good health remain active. These enzymes
die off within 20 minutes. This explains why
buying fruit and vegetable juices in your local
store do not compare to freshly juiced juices.
As a treatment for cancer, some doctors recommend
one 8 oz glass per hour for every waking hour
of the day. This therapy is based on the Gerson
therapy principles. For more information on
this type of therapy, visit the www.gersonsupportgroup.org.uk
or www.gerson.org
