Exercise and Activity

We all know the values of regular exercise and activity, but do you know why this is of benefit to us? Regular exercise and activity goes towards building a strong immune system.

Exercise can range from gentle walking to weight resistance training. Obviously, your current health conditions will dictate what type of exercise you can manage, but making the effort to keep mobile on a daily basis offers a variety of benefits:-

  • Blood oxygenation
  • Stimulation of the lmyph system
  • Boosting of the immune system
  • Strengthening of the heart and circulatory system (cardiovascular exercise)
  • Increase in the production of endorphins (mood boosting chemicals)
  • Prevention of osteoporosis (weight resistance training)

Gentle trampolining (also known as rebounding) is a very useful method of exercising during illness, as it can be regulated to your own speed and there is no impacting on joints, as the trampoline absorbs the gentle impact. See resources for suppliers.
