The Lymph System

In the everyday hustle and bustle of modern living, most people are totally unaware of the toxic by-products in our atmosphere and environment. The human body is an extremely sensitive organism, having to constantly perform thousands of processes. One of them is detoxification. By that I am not referring to just regular bowel movements (although that does help!).

A very important detoxification system in the human body is named the "Lymphatic system". This system consists of tiny circulatory vessels carrying a transparent liquid known as "Lymph". Sometimes the vessels are so tiny that their walls can be just one cell in thickness. These vessels can only be viewed under a microscope.

The lymphatic system is a kind of drainage system to every cell in the human body, kind of like a sewage system running through a city. Cells give off metabolic by-products of which the lymph system carries away.

Each cell relies on the lymphatic system to carry away its waste products. If, however, the lymphatic system contains a build up of toxins, they remain around the cell and hinder the cells performance. Toxic by-products can build up around and inside the cell, eventually leading to the cell being unable to perform correctly and be able to utilise oxygen provided by the blood stream. This then turns the cell anaerobic (meaning requires no oxygen to metabolise). Cancer cells are anerobic cells.

Assisting the Lymph System
Our blood supply relies on our heart to pump it around all the tissues and organs of the body. The Lymph system has to rely on our blood circulation to move it around the body. Sometimes the lymph system needs a helping hand to get the fluids moving; this includes regular exercise to increase blood circulation, drinking plenty of water to dilute the fluids and ensure proper detoxification of cells, and dry skin brushing is also known to activate the lymph system.
