Our Story

continued...

Before my mum underwent any treatment, a month had passed, during which time I was already underway on my hunt for information. By chance I came across a Reflexologist who casually asked me “is she going to go ahead with chemotherapy?” and “are you aware that chemotherapy can actually create many health problems, as well as damaging the immune system that the body relies upon to defend it from further cancers?”. Hearing this I was obviously very concerned. I just “presumed” orthodox treatment was the best direction to take. At this time, he told me about an alternative, non-toxic treatment named “Laetrile” (also named “Amygydalin” and vitamin “B17” which is derived from apricot kernels (see laetrile)). He told me of a lady who had fought off cancer for 12 years with laetrile alone, and also explained how chemotherapy can actually cause further cancer because it destroys our precious immune system, which protects us from cancer in the first place. He also told me important aspects of diet that will increase mums chances if we followed it strictly.

That night, we all sat down and discussed this in depth. Eventually we decided that for us to put our trust In someone we hardly knew, we would be very foolish. So, we opted to take the chemotherapy route. After all, isn’t that the direction everyone takes when they get diagnosed with cancer? If there was anything better, surely it would be shouted from the rooftops, it would be announced on the news woudnt it? If not, why not? Well, we will come to that later!

After mums very painful biopsy, she was diagnosed with an unknown primary, although they believed the cancer originated from either the Pancreas, Gall Bladder or billiary ducts. Therefore, Mum started a chemotherapy combination of Cisplatin and Gemcitabine, February 2005. Basically they never really knew where the primary was. The type of cancer was described as “adenoid carcinoma”.

Mum was given steroids to increase her appetite, anti-sickness tablets to stop nausea caused by chemotherapy and medication to prevent diarrhea. All these drugs were in addition to the toxic chemotherapy. This amazed me, considering the liver is the main detoxification organ of the body, which was already impaired by the illness. After mum’s first treatment, she started to lose her hair - this was an extremely emotional time for her. The whole situation was bad enough without this. Within a few weeks of mum having treatment, she started to feel really weak, tired and looked poorly. The first night she had treatment she experienced severe lower back pain. I contacted the chemotherapy hotline, where they explained it had nothing to do with the chemotherapy, just take a pain killer, its more likely her condition. Quite coincidental, considering mum had NEVER had back pain or problems until this first day of treatment.

With all the negative news we had heard about chemotherapy, we became more and more concerned as mum showed signs of bad health whilst on the treatment. We were given information, just as you are reading this now, but still we put our trust in orthodox NHS treatment. We waited eagerly to find out if the treatment had actually done anything.

In loving memory of my Mum, Elaine Sutton, I love you always
